Example

1234.56 (English, US) → One thousand two hundred thirty-four dollars and fifty-six cents

1234.56 (Русский, cents in digits) → Одна тысяча двести тридцать четыре рубля 56 копеек

Details and limitations

Grammar follows each language: Russian, Ukrainian and Polish nouns change with the number (рубль, рубля, рублей), Spanish and Portuguese shorten un/um before the currency, French writes quatre-vingts and deux cents. Chinese amounts use the financial characters (壹贰叁…) with 元角分 and 整.

Spelling differs between style guides (hyphens in English, spaces after mille or milione). Check the result against the rules your bank or accountant requires; the converter does not round amounts.

FAQ

How do I write a cheque amount in words?

Choose your language and region and the “cents in digits” style. It writes the main amount in words and the cents as digits, for example “Mil quinientos pesos 50/100 M.N.” for Mexico or “… рубля 56 копеек” for Russia.

Can it write Chinese uppercase amounts (人民币大写)?

Yes. Choose Chinese and a currency style: 1234.56 becomes 壹仟贰佰叁拾肆元伍角陆分, and whole amounts end with 整, following the People’s Bank of China rules for filling in bills.

Does it support Indian rupees and lakh/crore?

Yes. Choose English (India); amounts are written with lakh and crore, such as “One lakh twenty thousand rupees”.

Is the number sent to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and the language data is loaded only for the language you choose.
