How to use

  1. Choose the reference photo you want to draw.
  2. Set the number of columns, keep square cells or set rows, and choose a line color, width and diagonals.
  3. Apply and download the PNG, then draw the same grid lightly on your paper or canvas.

Example

A 3000 × 2000 photo with 6 columns and square cells → 6 × 4 cells of 500 × 500 px.
On paper 30 × 20 cm, draw cells of 5 × 5 cm.

Details and limitations

The grid method lets you copy a picture one cell at a time, which keeps proportions accurate. Square cells keep the same cell shape on the photo and on paper; the last row may be partial.

Line width scales with the image so the grid looks the same on large and small photos. The PNG keeps the original resolution; nothing is uploaded.

FAQ

How many squares should the grid have?

Use 3–4 columns for simple subjects and 8–12 for portraits or detailed scenes. Diagonals help with faces and curved shapes.

How do I match the grid on my paper?

Divide your paper width by the number of columns. With square cells, use the same size for the height of each row.
