How to use

- Run the check.
- Each line shows ✓ or ✗, the formatted IBAN, the country and expected length, and the reason when it fails.
Example
DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00 → ✓ Germany, 22 characters DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 01 → ✗ check digits do not match
Details and limitations
An IBAN is valid when its length matches the country (22 for Germany, 27 for France and Italy, 24 for Spain and Saudi Arabia…), its national part (BBAN) has the right pattern and the mod-97 check over the whole number equals 1 (ISO 13616).
A valid IBAN can still belong to a closed account or to someone else. Confirm the account holder with your bank (for example the EU Verification of Payee check) before sending money.
FAQ
Does a valid IBAN mean the account exists?
No. Only the bank can confirm that. The check digits catch typing mistakes such as a wrong or swapped digit.
Can I check the account holder’s name?
Not here. Name checks such as Verification of Payee are done by banks when you make a transfer.
Are the IBANs I paste uploaded?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
