Settings

Settings are saved in this browser only. The timer counts down from a fixed end time, so it stays accurate in a background tab as long as the tab is open.

How to use

  1. Press Start to begin a 25-minute focus session (change the lengths under Settings if you like).
  2. When the session ends a chime plays and the timer moves to a short break; every 4th focus session is followed by a long break.
  3. Turn on Auto-start to run the cycle without clicking, or use Skip and Restart session to adjust as you go.

Example

Defaults 25/5/15, long break every 4
→ Focus 25 · Break 5 · Focus 25 · Break 5 · Focus 25 · Break 5 · Focus 25 · Long break 15 · repeat

Details and limitations

The chime is synthesized with the Web Audio API; no sound file is loaded and nothing is uploaded. Settings are stored in your browser's localStorage.

Keep the tab open: the timer runs in the page, and closing the tab or letting the computer sleep pauses the cycle. Skipping a focus session counts it as done for the long-break schedule.

FAQ

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

A time-management method in which you work in focused blocks (traditionally 25 minutes) separated by short breaks, with a longer break after every four blocks.

Can I change the 25/5/15 minute lengths?

Yes. Focus can be 1–180 minutes, short break 1–60, long break 1–120, and the long break can come after every 2–12 focus sessions.

Will the timer keep going in a background tab?

Yes. It is based on the session's end time, so background throttling does not make it drift, and an optional browser notification can alert you.
