GitHub Flavored Markdown is supported (tables, task lists, strikethrough, autolinks). Raw HTML in the Markdown is ignored, and unsafe links such as javascript: are removed, in both the preview and the exported HTML.
How to use
- Type or paste Markdown in the editor, or use the toolbar (Ctrl/⌘+B, I, K) to insert formatting.
- Check the live preview; on phones switch between the Edit and Preview tabs.
- Download a .md or .html file, or copy the HTML. Your draft stays in this browser until you clear it.
Example
Input: ## Shopping - **Milk** - [ ] Bread HTML: <h2>Shopping</h2> <ul class="contains-task-list"> <li><strong>Milk</strong></li> <li class="task-list-item"><input type="checkbox" disabled=""/> Bread</li> </ul>
Details and limitations
Rendering uses react-markdown with GitHub Flavored Markdown. Raw HTML tags are dropped instead of rendered, so the preview and the exported file cannot run scripts.
The draft is stored only in this browser's local storage and is never uploaded. Private windows or blocked storage may not keep it, so download a copy of anything important.
FAQ
Does this Markdown editor save my work?
Yes, a draft is saved automatically in your browser's local storage on this device. It is not synced to other devices, and clearing site data removes it, so download a .md file to keep a copy.
Can I use HTML inside the Markdown?
No. Raw HTML is ignored for safety, both in the preview and in the exported HTML. Use Markdown syntax for headings, links, images, tables, and code instead.
How do I convert Markdown to HTML?
Write or paste your Markdown, then choose Download .html for a complete page with basic styling, or Copy HTML to get just the converted body markup.
