Quarterly report

The first paragraph…" with blank lines between paragraphs.

Details and limitations

The text comes from the PDF's own text layer via pdf.js. Items on the same baseline become one line, word gaps become spaces, and wider line spacing starts a new paragraph. Multi-column pages can mix columns, and wide gaps in tables are kept as three spaces.

Chinese, Japanese and Korean text is supported. Scanned pages have no text layer, so they come out empty; the tool lists them and links to PDF OCR. The PDF is read on your device.

FAQ

Why is my extracted text empty?

The PDF is most likely a scan or a set of images, so it contains pictures of text rather than characters. Use PDF OCR to recognize the text instead.

Why do some words run together or break oddly?

PDFs store positioned pieces of text, not sentences. Spaces and line breaks are guessed from those positions, so unusual fonts, kerning or columns can produce imperfect results.

Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first if you know it, then extract the text from the unlocked copy.
