Details and limitations
The document information dictionary is edited with pdf-lib, and the saved file is read back with pdf.js to confirm the values. Remove all metadata deletes the whole dictionary and the document-level XMP packet; metadata embedded inside images or individual pages is not touched.
Page content is not re-rendered, but the file is rewritten: it is saved with a PDF 1.7 header and may change in size. Dates are entered in your local time zone and stored in UTC. Nothing is uploaded.
FAQ
Why does my PDF reader still show the old title?
Some readers prefer the XMP packet over the document information. This tool removes the document-level XMP packet when it saves, so readers fall back to the values you entered. Close and reopen the file if it was already open.
Does removing metadata make a PDF anonymous?
It removes the title, author, dates, creator and producer fields and the XMP packet. Names can still appear in the page text, comments, form fields or embedded images, so check those separately.
