Base64 to Image Converter — Preview & Download

Paste a Base64 string or data URI to preview the image and download it with the right extension. The file type is detected from the decoded bytes.

Convert in your browser · No sign-up

How to use

  1. Paste a data URI (data:image/…;base64,…) or a plain Base64 string.
  2. Decode it to preview the image.
  3. Download the file with the detected extension.

Example

data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgo… → image.png (16 × 16)

Details and limitations

Spaces, line breaks and URL-safe Base64 (- and _) are accepted. The type is detected from the decoded bytes, so a wrong label in the data URI does not matter.

Up to 15 MB of decoded data. SVG output is previewed as an image, which never runs scripts. Decoding happens in your browser.

FAQ

Why do I get “not a supported image”?

The text decodes to something other than PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, SVG, BMP or ICO — for example a PDF or text. Check that you copied the whole string.

Do I need the data:image prefix?

No. Plain Base64 works too; the image type is detected automatically.
