変換例
Щукин Пётр Юрьевич → Shchukin Petr Iurevich (passport) Щукин → Shhukin (GOST 7.79 B)
仕様と制限
The passport table follows ICAO Doc 9303, used for Russian international passports: ж zh, х kh, ц ts, щ shch, ю iu, я ia, ъ ie, and ь is dropped.
The Ukrainian system writes є, ї, й, ю, я one way at the start of a word and another inside it (Єнакієве → Yenakiieve, Юрій → Yurii), drops ь and the apostrophe, and writes зг as zgh (Згорани → Zghorany), as the 2010 resolution requires.
FAQ
Which standard does my passport use?
Current Russian international passports use the ICAO table (the “passport” option). If your old passport used another spelling, you can ask to keep it, so check your existing documents.
Why is Юлия written as Iuliia?
ICAO writes ю as iu and я as ia, so Юлия becomes Iuliia. This is the official passport form, even if Yulia is more common elsewhere.
Can it convert Latin back to Cyrillic?
No. Several Cyrillic letters share the same Latin spelling, so the reverse conversion is ambiguous.
